Priorities For 2008

Mobile post sent by OzaMeilleur using Utterz. Replies. mp3

Before I take you back to 1918
and tell you all about how Edmond started out in life, I thought it would be a good idea to spend some time right here, right now, making plans for 2008.

This year, after reading blog articles and being advised by different groups on the Internet, I’ve decided to go with priorities instead of goals or resolutions. This plan is inspired by TaggZilla.com and chrisbrogan.com. Thanks to you both.

(The following information is more or less what you’ll find in the audio version above.)

My 3 priorities this year are:

1. To be happy in the present moment.
This is a combination of 2 priorities, but they work well together: I get to focus on being “in the moment” and being “happy” to be here…in the moment. Good feeling combo, if I do say so myself.

2. To have fun.
Being happy in the moment, every moment, doesn’t mean you’re having fun. You can be happy and still be bored. To have fun, for me, means taking my happy-in-the-moment self and putting her to good use. To move. To take action. Using that happy-in-the-moment energy and being CREATIVE. In all honesty, this is a priority in disguise. I want to become more productive with my writing and drawing. So focusing on having FUN will get me excited about writing and drawing, as opposed to being stressed out about coming up with articles and illustrations or, worse, feeling guilty when I don’t.

3. To increase my flexibility, my endurance, and build muscle/strength.
I’m in pretty good shape, my weight is fine, I eat healthy most of the time, and I walk as if the wheel had never been invented. But I’ve been slacking on the stretching, the rebounding, and the weight lifting. So major snapping back into action here.

My 3 priorities this month are:

1. To ask myself – immediately upon waking up each morning – “Why am I happy right now?” While I answer my question, out loud, I will get out of bed and dance – not walk – to the bathroom.

2. To come up with a fun thing to do before noon, each day, and then do it before the day ends. It can be any little thing, as long as it brings a smile to my face.

3. To jump on my mini trampoline (rebounder) for a minimum of 20 minutes each day, and to do my stretching routine before and after this exercise. (Not much, but it’s a good start.)

After mapping out my priorities which is what TaggZilla suggests we do I came across a blog post by Chris Brogan who inspired me to take the whole priorities plan and reduce it to 3 words. And they are:

1. Moment
2. Fun
3. Action

I have these words written on post-its all over the place.
They will become my mantra for 2008.

Rock on!

The Plan

Hope you had fun yesterday – I sure did.

Spent the last 26 hours with family and friends, ate way too much food, enjoyed a few glasses of wine and a sip of port, even got to sing and dance…which is something I hadn’t done in quite a while. All in all, I’m refreshed, refuelled, and ready to pursue our quest for happiness.

And since there’s nothing like a good plan, here’s what I came up with:

** Tomorrow we drive to 1949, where we’ll witness one of Violette’s worst days – how her good news turns into bad news with the help of a caring in-law.

** On Friday, we swing back to 1918, to see how Edmond came to be and what his dreams were as a kid.

** Saturday, we ride through 1921 and beyond, to visit Violette’s humble beginnings.

** By Sunday, prepare for the wedding that takes place on August 28, 1948. No need to dress up – we’ll be watching it through the church window.

Finally, on New Year’s Eve, I’ll be hosting a Web Party.
I have no clue what I’ll do, but I’ll try my best
to entertain you.

Hugs and love,
Oza a.k.a. Mudd
(and vice versa)

xoxo

** NOTE: Kindly replace the crossed-out information
with “Soon” or “Eventually.” Thanks! :-)
